Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Scripture:“It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”Lamentations 3:22–23 (KJV)

God has been faithful even when we have not been.

His compassion does not fail. His character does not change. He is not faithful one day and unfaithful the next. He remains who He has always been.

Great is His faithfulness.

Every morning is evidence of His mercy.

You woke up today because God extended mercy again. Everything you have, everything you are, and every opportunity you have to become who He created you to be is a result of His grace and mercy.

The question is not whether His mercy is available.

The question is whether you will receive it.

Sometimes we carry yesterday into today. We carry the mistake, the failure, the regret, the disappointment, or the shame. Although God has offered new mercy, we continue living beneath the weight of an old moment.

But if you failed yesterday, repent.

Then get back up.

God's mercy is new every morning.

Repentance does not mean remaining buried beneath condemnation. Repentance turns your heart back toward God so you can receive what His grace has already made available.

Scripture tells us that His divine power has given us “all things that pertain unto life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3).

Psalm 68:19 also declares:

“Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits.”

Notice that word: daily.

There is grace for today.

There is mercy for today.

There is strength for today.

There is wisdom for today.

There is provision for today.

So do not allow the enemy to convince you that yesterday's failure has canceled today's mercy.

Humble yourself before God and posture your heart as His son or daughter through Christ. Open your heart and mind to receive what He desires to do in you and through you today.

Word Study: Mercy

One of the Hebrew words connected with God's loving mercy is chesed (חֶסֶד), often referring to God's steadfast love, covenant faithfulness, kindness, and mercy.

God's mercy is not simply an emotional response to our weakness. His mercy flows from His faithful character.

That is why Lamentations can declare:

“Great is thy faithfulness.”

His faithfulness is greater than your failure.

His mercy is greater than your mistake.

His grace is greater than your past.

Get this truth deep into your heart so that when the enemy attempts to deceive you with a lie, the truth of God's Word is already established within you.

When condemnation says, “You failed, so God is finished with you,” mercy reminds you, “His compassion fails not.”

When shame says, “You cannot get back up,” grace reminds you, “His mercies are new every morning.”

When your past tries to define you, remember that through Christ you have been forgiven.

You do not have to spend today imprisoned by what happened yesterday.

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Psalm 118:24

Receive today's mercy.

Receive today's grace.

And walk faithfully with the God who has always been faithful to you.

Prayer

Father, remind the person reading this that You are all of who You say You are.

Remind them that Your compassion does not fail and that Your faithfulness does not change. Thank You for extending mercy into places where we were undeserving. Because of Your unfailing love and the finished work of Jesus Christ, You have given us the opportunity to experience life abundantly.

For the person carrying the weight of yesterday, remind them that Your mercy is new today. Give them the humility to repent where repentance is needed, the faith to receive Your forgiveness, and the courage to get back up and continue walking with You.

Guard their heart from condemnation and their mind from every lie that attempts to contradict what You have spoken.

May they move forward in grace and peace, knowing that You are for them and not against them.

Posture our hearts to receive everything You desire to do in us and through us today.
