Still Faithful

Every morning we wake up to another day of life. Some days bring joy, peace, and answered prayers. Others bring challenges, disappointments, uncertainty, and situations we never expected to face. Yet through every season, one truth remains: God is still faithful.
Scripture — Psalm 138:8 (KJV)
“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.”
There are moments when I look at my life and realize that I may not have everything I want. I may not be where I desire to be, and there are still things I'm believing God for. But when I consider who holds my life and future in His hands, I realize just how much I have to be thankful for.
The same God who created heaven and earth is the One who watches over us. He wakes us up each morning, sustains us throughout the day, and continues to show us mercy even when we fall short.
And sometimes, we overlook His faithfulness because we're so focused on what hasn't happened yet.
We remember the prayers that haven't been answered, the doors that haven't opened, and the situations that haven't changed. But what about the things God has already brought us through? What about the moments when we didn't know how we would make it, yet by His grace, we're still here?
In Psalm 138:8, David declares, “The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me.”
The Hebrew word translated as perfect comes from gamar (גָּמַר), meaning to complete, finish, or bring to an end.
What an encouraging reminder that God is not limited by where we are today. Our lives may still have unfinished chapters, unanswered questions, and things we're waiting for God to do. But we can thank Him today because our lives are in His hands.
We don't have to see the finished work to recognize the faithfulness of the One who is working.
David's confidence wasn't simply in what God would do. It was rooted in who God is. Notice how he immediately declares, “thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever.”
The Hebrew word for mercy here is chesed, which speaks of God's steadfast love, kindness, and faithfulness. His mercy isn't temporary, and His commitment to His people isn't dependent on everything going right.
That means our circumstances don't determine God's faithfulness.
Our names, positions, titles, and achievements don't make Him love us more. Neither do our failures mean that He has stopped loving us or that His mercy is beyond our reach.
There will even be seasons when we struggle to hear His voice. But what we perceive as silence doesn't mean He has left us. He continues to speak through His Word, reminding us of His promises, and sometimes He uses others to bring that same Word of encouragement into our lives.
God has not forgotten us. He has not abandoned His promises. And He has not stopped being faithful.
Psalm 68:19 reminds us, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.”
Think about that. Daily.
Not just when everything is going right. Not just when we have accomplished something great. But every day, God continues to extend His goodness and mercy toward us.
Sometimes those benefits are things we can easily recognize. Other times, they're the strength to endure, the peace to keep going, the wisdom to make a difficult decision, or the grace that carries us through another day.
Maybe today you're still waiting on something. Maybe life doesn't look the way you imagined it would. Or perhaps you're in a season where everything seems to be falling into place.
Whatever season you find yourself in, don't allow what you lack to overshadow the One who has kept you.
And don't mistake an unfinished season for an unfaithful God.
We have every reason to say thank You, not simply because of what God has done, but because of who He is.
He is faithful. He is merciful. He is righteous. And He keeps His Word.
Even when life is uncertain, we can rest in the certainty of His character.
We may not know everything tomorrow holds, but we know the One who holds tomorrow.
And for that alone, we can say, Father, thank You.
Reflection
1. Have I allowed the things I'm still waiting for to overshadow what God has already done in my life?
2. Are there unfinished areas of my life where I need to trust God's faithfulness rather than focus on my circumstances?
3. When was the last time I simply thanked God for who He is, without asking Him for anything?
Prayer
Father, You are worthy of all praise, glory, and honor. Thank You for being faithful through every season of our lives. Through our victories, disappointments, failures, and moments of uncertainty, You have continued to show us mercy and love.
Thank You for waking us up each morning, sustaining us throughout the day, and daily loading us with Your benefits. Forgive us for the times we've focused more on what we don't have than on the goodness You've already shown us.
Father, we may not be where we want to be, and we may not have everything we desire, but we have You. And because our lives and futures are in Your hands, we have every reason to be thankful.
Help us to trust You with the unfinished areas of our lives. Teach us to recognize Your faithfulness even when we cannot see what You're doing. Remind us that Your mercy endures forever and that Your Word never fails.
Continue to lead us and guide us. Help us recognize Your voice through Your Word and never lose sight of Your goodness.
We appreciate You, Father. We love You, and we thank You for keeping Your Word.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

Praise God for first loving us, for keeping us, and sacrificing His Son for the forgiveness of our sins! God has a plan for our lives and futures. Loving God for all He's done in my life is not hard for me to do. I admit that waiting on an answer is hard at times but knowing God is still present is the Best!!!!
